Baby massage is an international and time-honoured way in which parents and babies bond and interact. I offer baby massage classes in small groups (around five to eight parent-baby couples is optimum) or on a one-to-one basis.

My courses are taught over five weeks to give both the parent and baby time to learn and become accustomed to the massage. Each week a new part of the body is taught, followed by a repeat demonstration of previous classes thereby giving continued reinforcement of what has already been learned and new information. I teach a little at a time to ensure that you are confident with every aspect.

Courses are five weeks long and each class lasts an hour to an hour and a half, depending on the needs of the group. I teach either from my own home or, if you and  your friends can make up a group, I can travel to the home of one of you to run the sessions. Not a lot of space is needed - enough to lay five to eight babies on the floor with a parent sitting at their feet. I am willing to travel up to 45 minutes from my home in Duns Tew, north Oxfordshire.

The strokes and styles of baby massage are easier to grasp when demonstrated by an experienced instructors. Pressure, rate, rhythm, the length of the massage, respect, bonding, why baby cries, baby’s body language, positioning of the baby, relaxation and parent empowerment are some of the skills and topics that will be discussed.

Classes are appropriate for any age baby from birth to one year. I trained with the International Association of Infant Massage and qualified in May 2009. Standard price for courses is £50 per family, but I do not want people to be put off by the cost; if you would like to join but feel this cost is not possible, please email me for information about concessions of up to 50%.
